De Jure Praedae / Cross Border Tax Law is a boutique international tax firm with specialized expertise in the international/cross-border tax arena.

Protecting Your Rights Since 2015

I am an international tax lawyer with over 25 years of experience in the global tax arena, mostly working from the USA. After a career with Big4 accounting firm and an international law firm, I established my own firm. While working on the differences and anomalies between tax systems, I developed a unique skill set to approach tax consulting involving several countries at the same time. As such, the concept of holistic tax planning was developed.

In international tax and cross-border transactions, the various tax systems of countries apply simultaneously. Intrinsically, the impact on your facts and operations cannot be analyzed by looking at each country’s tax system in isolation. This approach almost guarantees that important items will be missed, which can result in significant tax costs for you. In our holistic methodology, the pertinent sections of the tax system, and potentially applicable tax treaties or multinational arrangements are all applied concurrently, resulting in the most optimal bottom line outcome for you.

Why Choose Us

Unique Expert Knowledge

Our international tax knowledge and wealth of experience are invaluable for clients that deal with international tax matters. Our special skill sets are not readily available in tax consulting firms and our expertise is well sought-after.

At a Fair Price

International tax is a specialized industry that is largely in the hands of the big4, transnational accounting and law firms and usually comes at a high price. Our firm applies fair rates and options to defer payment to manage upfront costs.

With a Practical and Personal Touch

We value a practical and personal touch to consulting. Client contacts are largely initiated and maintained via zoom call where your facts and our knowledge are coupled in an immediate setting. This is a very efficient use of time and severely reduces your costs. No lengthy memos or extensive analysis of options that in the end you do not pursue. The ultimate goal is always to help you to decide the best route to follow, based on the various options that we design for you.

With an Extensive International Network

Our firm is not a solo player. We have an extensive network of experts in various countries in wide-ranging disciplines that we collaborate with when necessary.

And an Impressive Track Record

Time and time again, we have delivered stellar tax results to our clients and would be pleased to provide client references upon request.

Our Philosophy

1

The Law Comes First

Whatever we do, and whatever tax planning we design for you, it will always be securely rooted in the applicable laws and jurisprudence. Tax planning is a technical skillset, and we will never advise or implement anything that is illegal or risky. When we win, it is always on the merits of the case. The tax authorities are bound to apply the law, just as we are.

2

Honest Communication

We will always give you our honest opinion and will be open about the possible exposures. If we think that we cannot help you or believe that you are better served by one of our network partners, we will refer you to them. That honest communication also applies to our interaction with tax authorities.

3

Committed to Excellence

Excellence is not a relative term for us. Excellence simply providing the best price/quality advice and service. Committed to excellence means 1. Paying attention to every detail; 2. Being consistent; 3. Focusing on your objectives; 4. Delivering the optimum outcome within the boundaries of the law; and most off all 5. Always doing what is best for our client’s bottom line.
